Muse Ministries

How do you worship? For many years the church has narrowed worship down to simply song and sermon, but lately we’ve seen a shift and a breath of fresh air in worship. Today, it seems that the church is waking up to the thought that worship is more than simply music, but instead worship is an experience in which God is revealed to the worshipper through an array of different avenues. If this is true, then we at RCC are worshipping through our mission: Love God, Love Neighbor, and Make Disciples.
Muse Ministry is an artistic community using the gift(s) that God has given them to inspire the community’s reflection and revelation in the beauty, truth, and goodness of God. The main way that we at Roosevelt Community Church worship and experience God is with the arts and artists that come from Muse Ministry. The Arts at Roosevelt Community Church consist of Visual Arts, Technical Arts, and Performing Arts, all of which lie under the umbrella of Muse Ministry.

Visual Arts

The Fine Arts:
We at RCC appreciate the fine arts as described through painting and photography.  During the reformation, visual arts through painting and stained glass windows were used to keep people focused who may have been drifting away during a sermon.  We at RCC appreciate and recognize the visual arts as ways to bring about further contemplation within the worshipper regarding the traits and promises of God.

Devotional Journals:
Muse Ministry has found an array of authors hidden within the church and by tapping into this resource of a different kind of worship leading in our church, we have unleashed a wonderful resource for inspiring the community’s reflection and revelation in the beauty, truth, and goodness of God.

Worship Space Design:
Our Worship Space is the sanctuary that we meet in for our services every week. The job of the Worship Space Design team is used to bring about an awe of God through the use of color and creativity within the space. Muse Ministry recognizes Worship Space Design as a way to bring people into God’s presence as they enter and exit the sanctuary.

Video Arts:
The Technological Visual Arts consist of people who are interested in film/film making. This ministry consists mainly of live filming, video editing, production using moving and still images, and screen writing which will be used and shared during special times and services.  The Video Arts are a part of worship in Muse Ministry as a relevant way to reflect further upon God and his truth and love.

Techinical Arts

Media Arts:
The technical ministry is a vital part of maintaining excellence within our music and the performing arts at RCC.  Our Technical Artists are a vital part of a worship experience in that they run the sound board and any extra visual aids within the service.  Muse Ministry uses the Technical Arts as the main resource for the congregation and their experience of God at Roosevelt Community Church.

Performing Arts

Musical Arts:
The most recognized of the Worship Arts, Muse Ministries uses the musical arts as a doorway to leading people to experience God in a reognizable and relevant way. Mike Theriault, friend of Muse Ministries, said of his church ministry, “Humility is stressed, commitment is expected, excellence is valued and true fellowship is guaranteed.”  This runs alongside the values of The Musical Arts in Muse Ministries (Auditions are required for participation in this ministry).

Dramatic Arts
What if “Drama’s” were done as a short story?  Not a funny way of explaining a message, but instead a relatable story shot as a short story told through video?  In today’s culture, film is seen as the modern parable – a story with a hidden moral message behind it. When skillfully done, this can be accomplished when combined with the video arts at RCC.
