Kurt Ingram, Lead Pastor

picHello Web friends, I am the lead pastor of Roosevelt Community Church. My wife Carol and I have two amazing children: Elijah (born in 2006) and Gracie (born in 2008). We moved back into the Bellingham area in the summer of 2010 to Pastor at Roosevelt Community Church.

I was born and raised in Whatcom County, I graduated from Meridian High School in 1996, so I am straight out of Laurel. I have lived in a few different places, but love the Northwest more than any place I have ever been (even in the rain). Our family loves all kinds of food, and we drink a lot of coffee. Since we have little kids most our time is spent on walks to play at the park.

I am working towards a Master’s Degree, but it is still kind of taking shape. I have worked in a variety of youth ministry positions (at camps, churches, and with Young Life), I spent some time in Peru with Food for the Hungry, and have had all kinds of other random jobs to pay the bills. I love the world and think there is nothing greater or more beautiful than experiencing other cultures and seeing God at work in them.

We are excited to see how God continues to shape this community, and how He will use his people to extend a radical love and grace to our neighborhood and world. Above all else we are called to love God and love others, so everything we do at RCC will be grounded in that basic foundational Christian ethic of love.

There is nothing I love more than hanging out with people, just to hear their story and passions, so if you ever want to grab coffee or get together please let me know.

Jay Johnson, Community Pastor

Hi, My name is Jonita (Jay) Johnson, I’m a retiree that hasn’t learned what that means yet. All the things I enjoy doing, I’m dabbling in. All my children are grown with kids, so I have grans galore – YAY!!!. At Roosevelt CC, I am Community Pastor doing what I enjoy best – working with people outside the church building. I’m involved with a homeless ministry called ‘Salt on the Street’ that originated from Cornwall Church seven years ago, and is still going strong. It’s so wonderful to see lives changing, and to see the Lord in action in all parts of the city. Evergreen Rehabilitation Center is another ministry of Roosevelt CC to those who are elderly, and living at the center, and those who need some additional physical rehabilitation. This ministry opportunity is bringing in people from other churches who are working together to deliver God’s word on a regular basis.

I grew up in the Midwest – Iowa, Kansas and Minnesota, raised most of my kids in Seattle, then moved to Mississippi for 13 years. I LOVE to travel, haven’t found my home yet.

  • I Love Preaching & Music – Gospel Choirs, piano classics,
  • jazz and some Christian bluegrass
  • My favorite board game is dominoes (9’s), and I like Bid Whist and Spades
  • I don’t like cats
  • I want to see my BBQ Sauce (Mama Jay’s) and seasoning go world-wide
  • I want to go on cruises, go digging for gold and turquoise,
  • and take an Amtrack trip across the United States.
